This 1999 photo, snapped just west of Brainerd, from K-196, captures the abandoned Missouri Pacific railbed where a small bridge has been pulled out and left to rot. While the tracks were hauled away by the railroad in the 1990s, several of these abandoned creek or grade crossings persist, and are clearly visible from the highway between Whitewater and El Dorado.
