This 1905 plat map of the young town of Whitewater presents a more developed, two-railroad T-town framework from that evident in the Brainerd plat map from the same year. Whitewater's commercial district already contains both a North-South (Main Street) and East-West commercial corridor (Fourth Street) -- signs of the economic pull it exerted to draw businesses away from outlying communities and into its orbit.
