The Whitewater elevator towers over this one-story stretch of Main Street to the West of downtown in this 1997 photo. The neoclassical building to the left was once a bank, and the white one-story building at right now houses the Whitewater Cafe, where I conducted part of my interviews with the Harders and their friends, Art Newman and Rollan Eberhard in April 1999 over a delicious chicken-fried steak lunch.
