My Grandmother's brothers attended the original, native stone Brainerd School from 1911 to 1915. I was thrilled to find a photo of the 1910/11 Brainerd School class in the slide tray at the Frederic Remington Area Historical Society on my last visit to the town.

Stella's brother, Harry Binger, is in the front row, on the far right, while her other brother, Clarence "Bing" Binger, is in the back row, on the far left. Both brothers returned to Newark, Ohio, with the family in 1915, but always cherished fond memories of their days in Brainerd on their travels around the world for World War II and to jobs in Chicago, New York and Newport News, Va.
